Our not-so-secret plan: Keep millions of film jobs and billions in box-office earnings in Africa.
A UNESCO report published in 2021 presents an encouraging outlook for Africa's film and audiovisual industry across 54 African countries. Although the report is comprehensive and addresses various topics, the financial and employment projections are particularly significant. It indicates that if major changes are implemented in the African film industry, it could generate an annual revenue of $20 billion and create 20 million jobs. Those changes are in the form of training, professionalism, appealing story plots, and high-quality production value films and series.
