NAYO WALLACE

ACTRESS | SINGER | ACTING COACH

Nayo Wallace is a serious actress with 30 years of experience in film, television, and theater. Her passion for acting outweighs her desire for fame. She comes from a highly motivated, creative family that has left an invaluable mark on the film industry.

Her grandfather starred opposite the legendary Lena Horne as Chick Bailey in Stormy Weather and appeared in Broadway's Guys and Dolls. He also composed songs and enjoyed fame in Europe, performing out of Paris. Her grandmother, Vivian, began performing as a child with her younger sister and their childhood friend. They were known as the Dandridge Sisters.

Her grandmother went on to perform as a singer worldwide and in film, television, radio, and voiceover work. Her dad appeared in Bright Road, which starred Nayo’s great aunt, Dorothy Dandridge.

Dorothy Dandridge is the first African American woman nominated for an Oscar for Best Leading Actress in the critically acclaimed film Carmen Jones. She made several movies and paved the way for every woman of color in acting today. Nayo's great grandmother, Ruby Dandridge, was a regular on the Amos & Andy show, a recurring character on the Beulah Show, and a performer in numerous films.

Her passion for acting was certainly handed down. Nayo has worked in TV, film, voice-over, and on the Broadway stage. She fell in love with Africa on her first visit. She decided to bring her love of acting, the knowledge accumulated over the years, and a profound understanding of Hollywood and the industry, building a career and avoiding pitfalls. She brings all that knowledge to Africa.

Nayo was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, and currently lives in Los Angeles.
